FNN endeavours to play an active role in the German rule-setting process with a view to supplementing or detailing legal requirements (i.e. laws, ordinances, regulations, stipulations laid down by the regulatory authorities) concerning technical requirements and operational aspects of electricity networks from 230 V to 380 kV.

FNN’s work is aimed at promoting the reliable operation and the sound technical evolution of the electricity system in order to ensure

• the highest level of safety
• reliability of supply
• compatibility with the environment
• optimal use of resources

The focus of FNN’s activities is on the objectives determined in its articles of association, i.e. safeguarding the reliability of supply and environmental protection and response to current requirements of its members. VDE technical rules (VDE-Anwendungsregeln – “code of practice”) are used as a basis for the work of FNN.
