The DKE  German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies of DIN and VDE cooperates with German universities in the context of the Science-to-Standards Programme. With this programme the DKE supports students with the elaboration of their research projects and final papers (diploma, bachelor or master thesis) in technical-scientific subjects.

The object of this cooperative endeavour is to identify innovative topics for the future which

• go easy on resources,
• reduce the impact on the environment and/or
• offer added value for society.

An annual update of work on these topics enables continuous observation of latest trends, combined with ongoing networking between the DKE and those involved in research and teaching at German universities.

The programme offers students:

• support by means of a six-month grant
• contacts to experts in industry (tailored to their individual topic and needs)
• an insight into the process of elaborating standards and specifications
• an award for the best final paper.
