The DKE Co-ordinating Office Mandates has been established to ensure the participation of the DKE at all stages of the elaboration of a mandate.
According to the DKE Guide the Co-ordinating Office Mandates has the overall responsibility for the final assessment and the submission of consolidated DKE comments on mandates. The DKE technical managers standards assume the technical responsibility and coordinate tasks.
Objectives
The objective and the task of the Co-ordinating Office Mandates is to include the DKE technical managers standards and interested experts as early as possible into the process of elaborating mandates and to support them.
More and more often the DKE receives relevant information from the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre (CCMC). This is why active co-ordination of the DKE with other concerned standards committees of DIN and other experts is especially important.
Standardization mandates of the European Commission (mandates)
Mandates are orders by the European Commission for various purposes. In the field of standardization mandates serve, inter alia, to give orders for the elaboration of technical standards to the European standards organizations. The EU Commission uses mandates to express their political will. This is based on the idea that standards are listed in the reference system for European directives.
Decisive for the procedure of elaborating mandates is the directive 98/34/EC of 22 June 1998 laying down a procedure for the provision of information in the field of technical standards and regulations and the Vademecum on European standardisation.
