On the occasion of the 75th IEC General Meeting in Melbourne a Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) was signed between the DKE German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies of DIN and VDE and the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) as part of the bilateral talks on 25 October 2011. This agreement emphasizes the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization’s effort to focus on IEC standardization work and apply more IEC standards and specifications.
In the presence of representatives of the German and Saudi Arabian delegations Nabil Ameen Molla, Governor of SASO, and Dr. Bernhard Thies, Chairman of the DKE Board of Directors, signed the agreement which represents the basis for close cooperation between the two organizations. The TCP provides, among other things, for the continuous exchange of experience in the field of electrotechnical standardization in general and the adoption of IEC standards and conformity assessments based on these in particular. Symposiums, seminars and workshops are intended to provide the appropriate framework to enhance the relations and discuss technical issues in detail.
