ALPHA at VDE 

The service package “Alpha at VDE” for the time from 1.1.2011 to 31.12.2011 contains the following services:

1.Services in the area of industrial low voltage for

  • Declaration of conformity
  • Manufacturer’s test laboratories
  • Manufacturer’s own responsibility
  • Prevention of legally required third party inspections
  • Product quality and safety through participation in committees and working groups for the preparation and interpretation of standards as well as PR activities (publications, keynotes, fair presentations and websites)

2.Commitment to a standard compliant and consistently high testing quality of industrial low voltage appliances by

  • Applying for LOVAG membership
  • Implementing all measures to maintain LOVAG membership
  • Installing a QM system enabling 
    - Active contribution to LOVAG
    - Management of the LOVAG secretariat (where financed by LOVAG partners)
  • Membership in all important certification procedures (CCA, ENEC, CB, HAR …)

3.Cost-effective utilization of an industry-specific certification system for industrial low voltage (LOVAG Certification Scheme)

  • Testing at manufacturer’s laboratories (Observer, SMT and WMT) and at third parties
  • With state-of-the-art LOVAG test report
  • Certification in accordance with complete standards or sequences
  • With reduced certification costs according to price list

4.Cost-effective provision of the LOVAG certification system for the awarding and monitoring of the LOVAG mark license 

  • Active mark protection through consequent prosecution of misuse (intensive cooperation with European customs authorities for trademark protection)
  • Reduced costs for awarding the LOVAG mark license according to pricelist

5.Active support in the combat against product counterfeiting

6.Easier and quicker access to VDE Institute’s certification services thanks to established contacts to previous ALPHA members as well as experience and mutual trust in the cooperation.

7.Organizing exchanges of experience and establishing contacts to technical experts
from LOVAG partners

  • to ALPHA working groups on product standards
  • at speech events (e.g. exchange on laboratory experience of the
  • Sk INspG, seminars on measuring methodology, with a focus on industrial low voltage)
  • Information from FNN (Network Technology / Network Operation forum within VDE)

8.Organizing exchanges of experience and providing information on certification requirements, product accreditation in export countries as well as international certification procedures through

  • the “product accreditation” working group
  • preparation of INFO papers by the “product accreditation” working group
  • information on certification requirements for international markets on demand
  • Information on national and international certification procedures
    (e.g. CB, CCA) on demand

9.Monthly reports with up-to-date information, directives and standards on topics concerning industrial low voltage and overall ALPHA activities

10.Secure online portal for service package users provides easy access to issued certificates and test reports, for usage in the B2B business and for the prosecution of misuse (installation is underway, access to own certificates only)

11.ALPHA certification team has easy access to VDE’s information platforms (i.e. to standards and committees; exclusive information is provided on the secure ALPHA website)
