The VDE Testing and Certification Institute in Offenbach has acquired the Rapid Environmental Lab (REAL), formerly owned by Motorola.

By acquiring REAL, the VDE Institute integrates a well recognized and experienced laboratory in the field of environmental testing. As the whole REAL staff from Motorola moved with the laboratory to VDE, the high quality testing service remains unchanged also within the VDE.

In addition to the existing PAH testing services VDE is now able to provide material evaluation regarding regulatory requirements (e. g. RoHS) and material declarations. Moreover, recycling properties of products will be evaluated (WEEE) and the determination of the carbon footprint (LCA) of products will be offered.

The laboratory is accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 quality measures. Thus we are one of the very few laboratories in the world, which are accredited for performing RoHS electronic materials testing as per IEC 62321 global RoHS test standard.
